Sérgio
Rodrigues

Brush maker
Porto, Portugal

The friction of fibres in the air, the bristles rising, wood shavings flying through the workshop. Just a few steps from the Palácio da Bolsa, Sérgio Rodrigues repeats the silent liturgy passed down by his father. At Escovaria de Belomonte, for four generations, the hand has shaped wood into brushes of lasting quality, sublimating the most ordinary of objects through the fervour of craftsmanship.
